Role Summary
Cloudflare is looking for a Software Engineer - Platforms & Productivity to join our Developer Productivity organization under a hybrid work model. In this role, you will build and operate internal platforms that accelerate engineering velocity and elevate developer experience across Cloudflare’s global teams. You will work across developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps automation, and AI-assisted workflows—including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, autonomous coding agents, and policy-as-code guardrails.
Key Responsibilities
- Developer Tooling & Platform Architecture: Design and build internal CLI tools, platform services, and developer infrastructure using Go, TypeScript, and Bash to streamline the path from code commit to production.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Build, deploy, and evaluate MCP servers, agentic frameworks, context engineering pipelines, and LLM-powered development tooling for internal engineering teams.
- GitOps & Guardrail Automation: Codify Cloudflare’s Engineering Codex into automated CI/CD checks, paved-path templates, and policy-as-code compliance policies.
- Platform Reliability & Incident Response: Maintain high availability, operational reliability, and platform security across internal developer-facing systems and build environments.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of software engineering experience focusing on backend systems, developer tooling, or platform engineering.
- Core Stack: Hands-on proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or Bash, alongside extensive experience with CI/CD platforms, GitOps practices, and source control workflows.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on experience developing MCP servers, AI agents, LLM evals, Kubernetes-based microservices, or policy-as-code engines (e.g., OPA).
- Professional Competencies: Deep empathy for developer experience, disciplined system debugging skills, and a bias toward high-impact automation.
