Role Summary
Cisco Wireless, a key division of Cisco Networking, is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our team in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. In this hybrid role, you will be part of an engineering group building on-prem and cloud-managed network devices, including wireless controllers and access points. You will design, develop, validate, and automate high-impact features that enable organizations worldwide to monitor, scale, and secure their wireless network infrastructure efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Feature Design & Implementation: Define, build, and deliver customer-centric software features for Cisco’s on-prem and cloud-managed wireless controllers and access points.
- Test Automation & Validation: Develop end-to-end automated tests using Python and Java to ensure continuous stability, quality, and performance across wireless networking products.
- Telemetry & Continuous Improvement: Leverage real-time telemetry data collected across enterprise network deployments to optimize system responsiveness and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Technical Marketing Engineers (TMEs), and cross-functional engineering teams to translate customer requirements into production-ready software solutions.
- AI-Assisted Development: Utilize modern AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, test generation, and workflow automation.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree (M.S. / M.Tech / MCA).
- Experience: 0 to 3 years of hands-on software development and automation experience.
- Core Technical Skills: Solid programming proficiency in Java and Python, combined with foundational knowledge of networking protocols and system architecture.
- Key Competencies: Experience leveraging AI tooling for development workflows, strong problem-solving capabilities, and a commitment to delivering clean, maintainable code.
- Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with enterprise Wi-Fi standards, cloud-managed networking platforms, network telemetry, and collaborative agile engineering practices.
