Role Summary
Cisco is hiring a Software Engineer for its Cloud Security Engineering team. This entry-level Cloud DevOps role provides an opportunity to work with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containers, Kubernetes, automation, monitoring, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- CI/CD: Assist in building, automating, and improving software delivery pipelines.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Support cloud infrastructure operations and deployment activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Infrastructure as Code: Contribute to AWS infrastructure provisioning and automation using Terraform.
- Containerization: Create Dockerfiles, containerize applications, and support VM-to-EKS migrations.
- Kubernetes: Deploy and troubleshoot applications running on Amazon EKS.
- Software Development: Write and maintain Java or Python backend code and integrate services through RESTful APIs.
- Monitoring: Help monitor application and infrastructure health using observability and monitoring tools.
- Automation: Develop scripts and automation that improve engineering productivity and operational workflows.
- Troubleshooting: Participate in troubleshooting issues across applications, platforms, and cloud environments.
- Collaboration: Work with developers, DevOps engineers, system engineers, and cloud infrastructure teams.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Fresh graduate or early-career candidate with an interest in Cloud DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or automation.
- Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure through coursework, projects, internships, or self-learning.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins pipelines for Docker, Terraform, and Helm.
- Experience with Terraform for AWS infrastructure provisioning.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Understanding of Kubernetes objects and experience deploying or debugging applications on EKS.
- Knowledge of Java or Python backend development and RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems and command-line usage.
- Preferred exposure to Git, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK.
