Role Summary
Chubb Business Services India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Hypervisor to join our Global Hypervisor chapter within the Technology Infrastructure Engineering department in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for supporting, engineering, and optimizing enterprise-grade VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and VMware vSphere environments hosting both Virtual Servers (VSI) and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). You will manage hypervisor infrastructure across global multi-datacenter environments, execute automated runbooks, and provide escalation-level incident remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Virtualization Operations & Maintenance: Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere (7.x, 8.x), and vCenter deployments in a follow-the-sun operational model.
- Hardware & Infrastructure Administration: Configure, monitor, and maintain Dell PowerEdge MX and Cisco UCS blade server infrastructure, implementing preventive maintenance and hardware lifecycle standards.
- Resource & Capacity Management: Analyze, authorize, and implement compute and storage resource allocations, establishing capacity thresholds and system health monitoring metrics.
- Automation & Scripting: Author automated runbooks and operational routines using PowerShell, Python, and REST APIs to streamline provisioning, health checks, and log collection.
- Incident & Escalation Management: Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) for complex virtualization incidents across storage, networking (VMware NSX), and virtual compute, participating in on-call and after-hours escalation rotations.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or an equivalent technical field.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and engineering enterprise VMware vSphere and hypervisor platforms in multi-datacenter environments.
- Core Technical Skills: VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vCenter, Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS, PowerShell scripting, and Storage/Networking fundamentals.
- Key Methodologies: Infrastructure Capacity Planning, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Incident & Problem Management, and Disaster Recovery / Datacenter Migration.
- Preferred Capabilities: Hands-on experience with VMware Aria (vRealize) Suite (vROps, Log Insight, vRA), VMware NSX, Python automation, and Windows Server (2019/2022) administration.
