Role Summary
Charles Schwab is hiring a Software Developer (Java) for its growing Hyderabad Technology Center. In this role, you will design, develop, and scale software solutions powering enterprise financial applications. Operating at the intersection of core software engineering and AI-enabled development, you will leverage GenAI tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor), direct agentic workflows, translate low-level design artifacts into structured AI specifications, and ensure rigorous code quality and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Java Application Engineering: Build scalable, reliable, and high-quality software systems using Java, modern design patterns, and enterprise databases.
- AI-Assisted Development: Utilize GenAI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate software delivery while conducting critical reviews of AI-generated code for bugs, security vulnerabilities, and code quality.
- Spec-Driven & Agentic Workflows: Author custom prompts, establish team-level AI standards, and translate low-level design artifacts into structured specifications to guide AI-assisted implementation.
- Engineering Excellence: Apply robust computer science fundamentals (concurrency, networking, testing, CI/CD) and secure coding principles across the development lifecycle.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Java, computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, OOP, system design), hands-on GenAI tools (GitHub Copilot/Cursor), prompt engineering, and agentic workflows.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and modernizing legacy platforms using AI acceleration and automation.
- Core Competencies: Structured logical problem-solving, accountability, and drive for continuous engineering improvement.
