Senior Data Scientist

Role Summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its Technology, Digital and Data team across Bengaluru, Karnataka and Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In this full-time onsite position, you will design, build, and deploy scalable Machine Learning (ML) pipelines, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI solutions. You will analyze complex enterprise datasets, develop Python-based analytical models, and partner with cross-functional product and engineering teams to automate decision-making across Caterpillar's global platform.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End AI/ML Engineering: Build, fine-tune, evaluate, deploy, and monitor scalable ML and Generative AI pipelines using Python and cloud-integrated enterprise platforms.
• Advanced Data Analytics & SQL: Write complex database queries and apply statistical modeling techniques to evaluate large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
• GenAI & LLM Integration: Research and incorporate emerging LLM architectures and AI frameworks to automate enterprise workflows and improve customer experiences.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translate complex business challenges into analytical frameworks and communicate statistical insights to technical and non-technical leadership.

Key Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning models and Python data pipelines in enterprise environments.
• Mandatory Technical Stack: Python, Machine Learning algorithms, Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI frameworks, and SQL database querying.
• Preferred Technical Exposure: R programming language, data mining tools, statistical modeling, and MLOps monitoring.
• Work Setup: Full-time onsite commitment (5 days a week) in Bengaluru or Chennai with relocation assistance available.
