Role Summary
Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer - QA for its Technology, Digital and Data team in Chennai. In this role, you will lead quality engineering strategy and execute test automation initiatives across Caterpillar’s dealer-facing web application (Foresight). You will design robust automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and RestAssured, build CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub, perform API testing, and oversee defect triage and regression cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Framework Ownership: Design, build, and optimize automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and RestAssured (Java/Python/TypeScript) to support large-scale web test execution.
- Test Planning & Execution: Prepare test strategies, regression suites, and execution artifacts covering functional, API, integration, batch job, and end-to-end scenarios.
- DevOps & CI/CD Integration: Implement automated test execution within Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelines for continuous integration and shift-left validation.
- Defect Triage & Quality Governance: Oversee defect prioritization, root cause analysis, KPI tracking (defect density, automation ROI), and report updates for key stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
- Experience: 4 to 7+ years of QA experience, with at least 3+ years dedicated to test automation for enterprise web applications.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, RestAssured, Java/Python/TypeScript, BDD (Cucumber), POM framework design, REST/SOAP API testing, and Azure DevOps/GitHub pipelines.
- Preferred Tools & Exposure: JMeter, Dynatrace, Datadog, Robot Framework, OData, OData/DMF data migration testing, and performance pipeline integrations.
- Role Specifics: Requires 5-day on-site presence in Chennai.
