Role Summary
BrowserStack is hiring an Engineer - Datacenter Operations for our test lab and data center facility in Navi Mumbai. In this 100% on-site role, you will maintain and scale our mobile and workstation testing infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on server rack hardware, you will manage OS-level operations across Android, iOS, macOS, and Linux device fleets, execute deployments via CLI, manage lab networking, and resolve technical support incidents to ensure 24/7 testing platform availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Device Fleet Management: Provision, flash, configure, and maintain large fleets of Android phones, tablets, iPhones, iPads, and Mac/Linux test nodes using CLI tools.
- OS & Systems Triage: Troubleshoot OS-level bugs, permission bottlenecks, software installations, and device connectivity issues across Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL/Debian) and macOS environments.
- Lab Operations & Networking: Maintain physical rack infrastructure, structured cabling, Wi-Fi access points, and power distribution units (PDUs) while monitoring environmental conditions.
- Incident Management: Triage and resolve Level 2 infrastructure support tickets in Jira within defined SLAs and author comprehensive technical SOPs in Confluence.
- Vendor & Asset Management: Supervise facility/ISP vendors during on-site maintenance and track device hardware inventories using internal asset tagging systems.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree, Diploma, or equivalent technical certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in IT operations, systems administration, or device lab/data center environments.
- Core Stack: Proficiency in Linux and macOS command-line administration, mobile OS internals (Android and iOS), TCP/IP networking fundamentals, and Jira/Confluence.
- Nice to Have: Scripting capability in Bash or Python, configuration automation with Ansible, and exposure to MDM platforms (Jamf, Intune, or Workspace ONE).
- Professional Competencies: Strong troubleshooting acumen, clear written and verbal English communication, and comfort working on-premise in a hardware lab setup.
