Role Summary
BlackRock is hiring a Data Engineer, Associate for its ALADDIN ITE-QAE team in Mumbai, Maharashtra (Hybrid, 4 days in-office). In this data platform engineering role, you will design and build scalable data infrastructure and pipelines on Snowflake to curate large-scale financial, pricing, risk, and index-constituent datasets. You will write high-performance Python ETL workflows, implement automated data quality and monitoring frameworks, and adopt AI-assisted development tools within enterprise security and governance controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Infrastructure & Modeling: Design, build, and own scalable data models and storage infrastructure optimized for Snowflake and Aladdin financial analytics frameworks.
- ETL Pipeline Engineering: Build and maintain robust batch and streaming ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and curate large-scale financial, security, and portfolio datasets.
- Quality & Performance Optimization: Implement automated data validation, quality monitoring, and workload performance/cost optimization frameworks.
- AI Adoption & Engineering Governance: Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for faster development, testing, and documentation while adhering to IP and data privacy standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with quantitative research, modeling, and analytics teams to translate complex financial requirements into production-grade platform solutions.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Experience: 7+ years of professional hands-on experience in Python data engineering and building large-scale ETL pipelines on distributed frameworks.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Advanced Python proficiency, Snowflake, database internals, data modeling, ETL pipeline development, and AI coding assistants.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices.
