Role Overview
BlackRock features an opening for an Associate, Application Engineer within the Preqin Enterprise Data Solutions team in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (Hybrid: 4 days in-office / 1 day remote). In this core engineering role, you will join an agile engineering pod responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining platforms that deliver industry-leading private markets data to enterprise clients. The position centers on designing high-throughput data distribution systems, developing robust APIs and data delivery services, integrating with modern cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and databases like PostgreSQL, and advancing system observability and infrastructure automation across enterprise environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Data Delivery & Distribution Platforms: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable platforms and data pipelines that distribute private markets datasets to enterprise clients.
- API & Integration Development: Build and enhance secure, performant RESTful APIs, data feeds, and integration interfaces enabling third-party platforms to consume data seamlessly.
- Data Modeling & Persistence: Participate in data modeling discussions and optimize database schemas across relational engines (PostgreSQL) and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake).
- Cloud & Infrastructure Automation: Deploy and support applications utilizing cloud platforms and infrastructure automation best practices across modern CI/CD software delivery pipelines.
- System Reliability & Observability: Implement monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks to ensure high availability, resilience, and operational excellence for client-facing data services.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, data owners, and engineering peers to translate functional requirements into maintainable, production-grade solutions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Professional Experience: 4+ years of dedicated software engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade applications and distributed services.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong hands-on coding capabilities in C# and Python, with experience utilizing modern web frameworks.
- Data Technologies: Solid experience working with relational databases (specifically PostgreSQL) and cloud-based data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake.
- Architecture & Cloud: Demonstrated exposure to cloud ecosystems, RESTful API design, infrastructure automation, and modern software deployment workflows.
- Tooling & Integrations (Preferred): Experience building custom end-user tooling, third-party system integrations, or working with financial and private markets datasets.
- Workplace Model: Commitment to BlackRock’s hybrid working model, operating at least 4 days per week on-site at the Bengaluru office.
