Role Summary
Ascendion is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Java Fullstack Engineer / Backend Engineer to join our digital engineering team in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. In this full-time role, you will design, develop, and optimize enterprise-grade backend services and microservices utilizing Java and Spring Boot. Beyond traditional backend development, you will operate at the intersection of modern engineering and artificial intelligence—leveraging AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude, and actively contributing to Agentic AI and autonomous AI agent development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend & Microservices Engineering: Architect, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- API Design & Management: Design, build, secure, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs for seamless integration across services and third-party platforms.
- AI-Assisted Development: Leverage GitHub Copilot and Claude to streamline software delivery, optimize code authoring, and accelerate testing and debugging workflows.
- Agentic AI Initiatives: Design and contribute to Agentic AI concepts and autonomous AI agent architectures integrated into enterprise applications.
- Code Quality & Review: Review human-written and AI-generated code to enforce high standards of accuracy, security, maintainability, and runtime performance.
- Testing & Validation: Perform comprehensive unit testing, debugging, and code validation to ensure robust application stability and reliability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with cross-functional engineering, architecture, and product squads to deliver resilient, scalable software solutions.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 2 to 6 years of software engineering experience focusing on enterprise backend systems and microservices.
- Core Technical Proficiency: Strong programming expertise in Java and hands-on production experience with the Spring Boot framework.
- Architecture & Services: Practical experience designing and implementing Microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
- AI Tooling & Concepts: Direct hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot or Claude in daily engineering workflows, coupled with an understanding of Agentic AI and AI agent concepts.
- Software Quality: Demonstrated proficiency in unit testing, debugging, code validation, and performance optimization.
- Preferred Capabilities: Working familiarity with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), Apache Kafka, event-driven architectures, SQL/NoSQL databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
