Data Engineer - Snowflake

Role Summary

Ascendion is hiring a Data Engineer - Snowflake in Pune, India. In this modern data stack role, you will architect, optimize, and manage Snowflake data infrastructure, build transformations using dbt (data build tool), coordinate workflow pipelines using Prefect, and streamline version-controlled data pipelines through GitHub. You will focus on optimizing virtual warehouses, tuning query performance, and implementing robust role-based access control (RBAC).

Key Responsibilities

• Snowflake Infrastructure & Administration: Manage virtual warehouses, clustering keys, role-based security, and resource monitors to optimize query performance and control cloud operational costs.
• Data Transformation & Pipeline Automation: Build and maintain scalable data transformation models using dbt and orchestrate data workflows with Prefect.
• API & Code Management: Maintain version-controlled codebases using GitHub and integrate third-party data pipelines via REST APIs.
• Performance & Security Optimization: Monitor data pipelines, debug execution bottlenecks, and maintain strict data governance and security practices.

Key Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 5–7 years of experience working as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer.
• Mandatory Technical Stack: Snowflake, dbt, Prefect Orchestration, GitHub, and SQL.
• Preferred Technical Exposure: Node.js application development, REST API integrations, and advanced query optimization techniques.
