Role Summary
Amazon is hiring a Sr. Software Dev Engineer (SDE-3) - Amazon Freight for its engineering center in Hyderabad, Telangana (ADCI HYD 13 SEZ). In this senior technical leadership role, you will architect, lead, and deliver next-generation transportation and logistics platform capabilities. You will drive key technical initiatives including building a new quotation architecture, constructing shipper identity platforms, improving communication services, solving core supply chain network demand mismatches, and building real-time operator tooling applications for Amazon Freight across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Technical Vision: Lead end-to-end architecture design and technical direction for high-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems powering Amazon Freight network operations.
- Core Freight & Logistics Innovation: Engineer solutions for quotation engines, shipper identity, network design optimization, scheduling reliability, and operator tooling.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as Tech Lead across engineering teams, mentor SDE-1/SDE-2 engineers, enforce strict code review standards, and guide technical decision-making.
- Operational & Engineering Excellence: Establish high engineering standards across CI/CD, deployment pipelines, system metrics, hardware resource utilization, and operational stability.
- Stakeholder & Product Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional product managers, science teams, and business leadership to translate complex transportation economics into scalable technology strategies.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of professional non-internship software development experience, with a proven track record of leading system design, architecture (reliability, scaling, design patterns), and engineering teams.
- Technical Expertise: Deep hands-on mastery in at least one modern programming language (Java, C++, Python, Go) and distributed system design.
- Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated experience acting as a Tech Lead, principal contributor, or technical mentor for engineering teams.
- Full SDLC Ownership: Comprehensive expertise in the full software development lifecycle, including continuous delivery, source control (Git), unit testing frameworks, and cloud operation standards.
