Role Summary
Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer (SDE-2) - RBS Tech for its Retail Business Services technology unit in Bengaluru, Karnataka (ADCI - BLR 14 SEZ). In this core backend and distributed systems role, you will design, architect, and build high-scale automation platforms powered by Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will address catalog defect elimination, enrich ASIN metadata, construct resilient distributed services, enforce engineering best practices, and influence multi-billion dollar retail workflows across Amazon's worldwide business.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Design: Architect, build, and maintain stable, performant, and highly distributed software solutions while balancing system design trade-offs and abstraction levels.
- LLM & Automation Engineering: Develop automated platforms leveraging Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and LLMs to solve complex retail catalog and supply chain challenges.
- Engineering & Operational Excellence: Write clean, maintainable code, conduct thorough peer code reviews, optimize CPU/memory resource utilization, and manage production operational metrics.
- CI/CD & Testing: Implement automated unit/integration test frameworks, adhere to SDLC standards, and maintain automated build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Partner with SDEs, Applied Scientists, and Product Managers while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team architecture discussions.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience: 3+ years of non-internship professional software engineering experience, with 2+ years dedicated to system design and architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Programming Proficiency: Strong hands-on coding skills in at least one modern object-oriented language (e.g., Java, C++, Python, Go).
- Software Best Practices: Complete understanding of full SDLC, coding standards, source control management (Git), continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence.
- Preferred Exposure: Experience with AWS cloud architecture, highly distributed systems, microservices, or AI/ML-driven automation pipelines.
