Role Summary
Amazon is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to join the Alexa Connections team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In this role, you will design and deliver the foundational backend software systems behind an intelligent, privacy-first communication assistant. You will build and scale systems that model customer relationship graphs, integrate large language models (LLMs) and agentic reasoning, and power context-aware assistance across calls, texts, and emails serving tens of millions of daily events.
Key Responsibilities
- Connections Graph Modeling: Design and implement privacy-first software services that model customer connections graphs to represent communication patterns and relationship contexts.
- Agentic & LLM Systems: Build and operate scalable backend services that incorporate large language models and agentic reasoning to predict connection intent across calls, texts, and emails.
- Research Translation: Partner with applied scientists, product managers, and engineering squads to translate innovations in personalization, long-term memory, and intent ranking into production features.
- Full SDLC Ownership: Drive system scoping, design, code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration/deployment, and operational monitoring.
- Operational Excellence: Conduct root-cause analyses on production issues, optimize latency, and drive ongoing improvements in service maintainability and fault tolerance.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, including 2+ years designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
- Core Technical Capabilities: Proficiency in at least one modern software programming language, full software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, source control management, build systems, testing, and operations.
- Key Domains: Distributed backend architectures, graph modeling, LLM application integration, agentic reasoning, and production system scaling.
