Role Summary
Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer (SDE) - AFT External Fulfillment to build brand-new Quick Commerce (QC) fulfillment technology from the ground up. In this role, you will design, build, and operate scalable distributed services and APIs powering micro-stores—handling inbound receiving, stowing, picking, staging, and last-mile handoff. You will develop software controls for external fulfillment environments and 3P partner integrations to support ultra-fast 10-minute delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Service & API Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs for the Quick Commerce fulfillment stack.
- External Fulfillment Controls: Develop software systems enforcing operational controls across Amazon and 3P external fulfillment environments.
- Architecture & System Design: Collaborate with Senior/Principal Engineers and Product Managers to architect reliable, high-throughput distributed systems.
- Engineering Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following Amazon standards, participating in code reviews and design sessions.
- Operational Performance: Drive continuous improvements in system reliability, latency, and operational performance in a rapid, iterative agile environment.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, with 2+ years in system design or architecture (reliability and scaling).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, C++, Python, etc.), distributed systems design, and scalable API development.
- Preferred Exposure: Prior experience in fulfillment, logistics, supply chain technology, and full SDLC best practices.
