Role Summary
Akamai Technologies is seeking a skilled and proactive Data Engineer II to join our global Data Engineering practice. In this full-time remote role (with corporate facilities at the Augusta Building in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India), you will help democratize data across Akamai to support a high-performance, data-driven organization. You will take end-to-end ownership of data pipeline engineering, designing, building, and automating robust data pipelines, ETL mapping architectures, and modern integration services utilizing Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle GoldenGate, MuleSoft, Python, and shell scripting.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development & Management: Design, build, automate, and manage scalable data pipelines using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle GoldenGate, MuleSoft, and related data integration technologies.
- ETL & Data Transformation: Develop, optimize, and maintain complex ETL mappings, data flows, and transformation logic to ingest and blend heterogeneous datasets.
- Data Modeling & Architecture: Apply database design best practices, understand database internals, and build high-performance data models supporting analytical workloads.
- Scripting & Automation: Implement custom automation solutions and utility tools using Python and Bash shell scripting to eliminate operational manual overhead.
- Architecture Standards & Requirements: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical requirements, influence architectural patterns, and establish data engineering standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks across existing pipeline workflows, propose modern engineering improvements, and collaboratively lead remediation initiatives.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant professional data engineering and ETL development experience.
- Core Technical Competencies: Expert-level proficiency in SQL and solid working knowledge of PL/SQL programming.
- ETL & Integration: Proven hands-on track record in data integration and ETL mapping, predominantly utilizing Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
- Database & Scripting: Deep understanding of relational databases, database internals, and data modeling, paired with practical coding experience in Python and Bash shell scripting.
- Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with real-time replication via Oracle GoldenGate, enterprise integration with MuleSoft, and modern distributed integration architectures.
